Acetate 1.3.3: Publish to SoundCloud Without Leaving the App
The upload was the annoying part
Mastering a mix used to end with a ritual: export the file, find it in Finder, open SoundCloud in a browser, upload, wait, fill in the metadata, publish. Four context switches for something that should take one click.
1.3.3 removes the ritual. When your master is done, Acetate offers a publish flow right on the Done screen:
- Pick your format - whatever you want SoundCloud to receive
- Fill in the metadata - title, genre, tags, description
Hit publish and it lands on your own SoundCloud account. Sign in once, and every master after that is two steps from posted.
It also works from your history. Any master you've already made can be published without reprocessing - so the mix you finished last week can go up today.
Exports you don't have to second-guess
The other half of 1.3.3 is less visible but matters more: a full reliability pass over how exports are written.
The short version: what lands on disk is now guaranteed to be the master you heard in the app. Conversions between formats that used to produce unplayable files (WAV to AIFF was the worst) now convert properly. Bit depth you choose is the bit depth you get. And an export left over from a previous master is never quietly offered up as if it were the new one.
If you ever exported a file and something about it seemed off, that class of bug is gone. If you never noticed anything - that's the point, and now it's guaranteed.
Your audio still stays yours
Nothing about the offline model changes. Analysis and processing run on your machine, same as always. Publishing is the one place audio goes online, it only happens when you ask, and it only goes to your own account.
